Casa Azul

As I approach the beginnings of a new cycle, I pause to reflect on the way things have unfolded in the last decade. Many of the thoughts have stemmed from this idea that, self-love and self-care have become a priority and a necessity.

In the last three and a half years after letting go of several toxic relationships, I feel grateful to be welcomed by friends and embraced by the community here. Even more so, I feel touched by the friendships I’ve been able to keep across states, and have a better idea of what kind of community I wish to associate myself with. Grateful for the practices that have been passed to me…which challenges me to step more fully into myself and embrace the magic of the unknown.

This New Year was spent in La Misión, Baja California at Casa Azul, for what ended up turning into a mini retreat. It means Blue House.

Upon entry, I was greeted by Lulu the dog. I was also told that she responds to the name “Princess.”

Dogs are seriously the best. They bring me so much joy and make excellent workout partners and listeners. This one likes walks on the beach and jumping onto platforms. She’s also not afraid to speak up. We make a good team.

I didn’t realize how emotional I would be upon being showed the room I was staying in. Being in this state of transition for a while…it definitely brought up some stuff. The feeling of having a roof over my head and the Earth beneath my feet in a warm space left me in this cathartic state of bliss.

Sunset View at Poco Cielo (“Little Bit of Sky”)

I’d like to bring this blog post to a close by saying thank you to everyone who’s made this journey to self care a little bit easier, and helping me realize that the things that are truly meant for you will never run from you, they will show up and be there to stay. My hope for 2020 is to continue repeating this mantra to myself, nurture this blog, and continue to Be Positive. Until next time…
